Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is where documents and transactions are transmitted from one company's computer to another. When EDI is used, data is transmitted quickly and accurately. Supporting ANSI X.12 and other proprietary formats, data only needs to be keyed-in once.
Common EDI transactions include:
Bisco Connect Terminal
EDI is not usually instituted at first, however, it is a transition from the Bisco Connect Terminal program. Using your PC and modem you can
dial into Bisco's mainframe and all the information you want is at your finger tips. Bisco's "Inventory Inquiry" screen provides all the product
detail from pricing, available stock, to the stocking location. The order screen allows you to place purchase orders, make changes to your
request date, or check on the status of a back order. Of course, E-mail is also included.
Some of the benefits are:
Bisco On-line
If you just want to send us your quotes or request for data sheets over the Internet, Bisco maintains an E-mail address for your convenience.
Checked on a regular basis, the requested information is directed to the proper department and responded to in a timely fashion.
Disk to Disk
Those long quote lists can sometimes be a bear to handle, so Bisco Value-Added encourages supplying your request and our response via
floppy and spreadsheet format.
Whatever the method, Bisco Value-Added is committed to supporting our customer's requirements.
| BIN STOCKING |

Milkman Service
Basically, most bin stocking programs are derived from Bisco's standard Milkman program. Similar to how a milkman would check and
replace your used milk bottles, Bisco comes in and checks and replenishes your stock bins. Together we determine the optimal minimum and
maximum stocking levels. Reviews of inventory quantities can be performed on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. When an item is low,
we simply replenish from our on-the-shelf inventory that is specifically dedicated for you.
Electronically Enhanced Bin Stocking Program
In trying to maintain the ease of doing business and increasing the quality and reliability of our service, we developed an electronically
enhanced bin stocking program. We have found this extremely useful when trying to monitor several hundred to several thousand line items.
All the stocking bins have bar coded labels attached and when someone goes to pull stock they simply scan the bin with a hand held unit and
enter the amount taken. Every week we download the saved information to our system and send replenishment inventory.
Off-Site Bins
You have released the parts to the floor to be pulled, and allotted a day or two for the part kits to get to the assembly area. You can reduce man-hours and inventory carrying cost by allowing Bisco to maintain the bins at a local or regional office. We will pull the parts and ship in consolidated boxes in about the same time that it would have taken your stock pullers. At the final stages, we can pre-check the boxes per your receiving quality standards. Due to extremely low and in some cases zero errors, several customers have had the inventory bypass Quality Control altogether and go straight to the production floor.
Custom Bin Programs
The most important thing we realize is that your needs and requirements are a bit different than all of our other customers. So deriving your program from one of the above programs, or generating an original one, Bisco tries to service all the unique needs of our customers.
Today Bisco maintains a competitive edge by offering unique value-added programs, tailor fit to meet the needs of our customer base. Our customers rely on same day shipments and one-stop shopping from our inventory of over 150 major manufacturers. We are committed to supplying your components with an unparalleled response time.
